Oral presentation

When I was doing my oral presentation:

I spoke about differents the history of google. We used a powerpoint. Approximately my part during five minutes. I try to looked my companions and my teacher. I tried didn't look my notes. I moved my hands almost all the oral presentation because I was nervous. We organized all the information in two parts: first how devoloped google and the second part the different sub-servicies about google. We used words like: first, then, now, after. All of my companions know what is google, but I am secure that they don't know about the history. We searched information in the internet in different pages. I think that my grammar was good, but with some mistakes. My vocabulary wasn't much rich and varied. I used some sentence linker like: and, also. But I dind't use pause fillers. I found all my words for know the pronunce, but maybe some of they I pronunce bad. I check some words in a dictionary. I think that I used a monotone tone all the time. I think that I spoke very fluid, because I studied my text. I believe that I got a mark of 6.5.

Oral presentation

Good morning, we are Kim and Anna and today we are going to explain the history of Google.

At first we are going to explain you how developed Google since it appeared until today. Then the second part of our presentation will be to show you the different services of Google that have appeared during the years.

HISTORY

I am going to start with the history of Google.

In 1995 two students, Sergey Brin and Larry Page, who at this time were 23 and 24 years old, went together on the university of Stanford.

Some months later they started to work together on a “Digital Library Project”. Larry Page had experiences on web design and he had the title of electric engineer, and Sergey Brin had experiences in maths and informatics. During they were working on this project, they had the idea to create a web page where people can search and find information about what they like.

In 1996 they started to create a search program called “BackRub” and later, in 1997 it transformed to Google. They changed the name because the name “Google” is similar to the word “googol”, that in english means “ten elevated to hundred”. They put this name because because you can find milions and milions of pages.

Brin and Page presented their technology to the college and this was the responsible to contact with various Internet companies that might be interested in Google.

Brin and Page recibed a lot of different offerts of companies but they didn’t like any of them, so they decided to create their own company.

From this moment, Google developed into a famous web page. Brin and Page had to buy a lot of new hard drives because every day they had more pages to add into Google. They didn’t find any financier for their company so they had to borrow money from their family and some friends. Meanwhile they left the project of the university.

In the summer of 1998 Brin and Page met Andy Bechtolsheim and they signed a check of 100.000 (hundred thousand) dolars. And some months later they did another check like the first, but for the new company “Google Inc”.

“Google Inc” got to win some more milions of dolars. Google received ten thousand visits for day. The magazine 'PC Magazine' includes it in the list "Top 100 Web Sites', in 1998.

On the website 'About Google' are many references on everything related to Google, the 3 people working at the time, everyone who was helping them, the software and hardware used, collaborations, ...

In 1999, they contracted eight people to work in their company, they received 500.000 visits for day, they moved to other offices and signed his first commercial contract with RedHat, which begins to provide the Linux operating system of Google’s servers.

Today Google is the most visited web page and every person in this world knows what it means and what it’s about when we say Google.

When they became famous and rich, Google decided to create some new sub-services like Google Maps, Google Books and Google Earth.

SUB-SERVICES

Now we are going to show you this three sub-services of Google.

GOOGLE MAPS: Google maps is a web mapping service application and technology provided by Google. It offers street maps, a route planner for traveling by foot, car, or public transport and an urban business locator for numerous countries around the world. Google Maps satellite images are not in real time; they are several years old. It’s a free service, all the world can use it.

There are a lot of other services refeared to this idea, for example Google Mars, google sky, google maps for mobile, etc.

GOOGLE BOOKS: Google Books is a service from Google that searches the full text of books that Google has scanned. So every person can access at this page and read his favourite book online.

GOOGLE EARTH: Google Earth is a virtual globe, map and geographical information program that was originally called EarthViewer 3D. It is very similar to google maps.It shows the Earth with images obtained from a satellite in 3D. A lot of people use it every day to find the right way.

In conclusion, we can see that Google is a very rich and famous online company that has developed very much during the years and also has created a lot of new sub-services that every day become more famous. All the people in this world know and use this service daily.

STEP UP 3

I choose the film “STEP UP 3” because is the last film that I see in the cinema, and I like it very much.

The film was written by Amy Andelson and Emily Meyer.

The film is about one boy (Moose) and one girl (Camille) who they want to go at the University of New York. They promise that they won’t dance anymore. But in there they meet Luke and his House of Pirates dance crew. This group will compete in a contest "the World Jam" against their rivals, the House of Samurai dance crew.

The movie is very good. They dance very very well.

The main characters are Luke, Moose, Natalie and Camille.

The characters are good actors and the place is perfect for make the film.

I love “STEP UP 3” because almost all the films about dance I like so much.

I enjoy seeing this films.

Justin Bieber.

The topic of this writing is Justin Bieber. I choose this subject because it’s a very good singer for me.

He is a famous singer in the United States with only sixteen years but in Spain a few people know him. Justin Bieber was born 1th of March on 1994 in Canada. He is a pop singer and he play the guitar, piano, trumpet and the battery. Only his single mother, Pattie Mallette, look after him. When he was very young he always sang, he loved sing and he did very well, and when he was twelve he participated a sing contest where he won the second prize.

In 2007 her mother upload videos of him in the page youtube.com. For example he sang songs of Justin Timberlake. Later Scooter Braun when he looked videos in internet he found the videos of Justin Bieber and now Scootter is his maneger. And Justin Timberlake also he wanted to contract him.

In July in 2009 he presents the song “One Time”. And this song you could listen in the radio, and it got the twelve position in the “éxitosCanadianHot 100 and after it got the seventeen position in the “conteo Billboard Hot 100”. On 17 of November on 2009 he gets his cd “My World”.

The song more famous of his cd are One less lonely girl, One Time and Baby. Later he had to go to Roosevelt Field Mall a program which was canceled because 3000 followers started to push.

Also he is a good actor and he is Jason McCan in the program CSI, who is a problematic boy that he had to take a decision respect his brother.

In 12 of Setember in 2010 he won the “Premis MTV” like the better artist.

One less lonely girl

News

Now I am going to do a commentary about a news.

First I will do a summary and after I write my personal opinion.

-Two weeks ago in my town, Sant Pere Pescador, there was a murdered. A man who lived with his wife in a house near “Fluvià Marina” killed her. He comes from Belgium but he lives here since beginning 2009. The man was schizophrenic. After he kills her wife, he cuts the body and puts the pieces in the fridge. Later he calls the gardener because he makes a hole for bury the woman. The gardener when saw the pieces of the woman, the blood... run away and went to the police.

-I think that it’s a terrible news. When I heard the news I couldn’t believe it. My town it’s very small and it’s incredible that pass this thing. I am frightened, because only think about the woman... I hope that the man are going to the prison for many years or for always. It’s very sad, shameful that a man kills her wife. Everyday, the society is more crazy. This notice looks like a film.

Fama revolution

My third writing is about my favourite programme TV.

My favourite programme TV is “fama revolution”.

I watch fama during the week since 17:00h to 19:00h, but not at the weekend.

This year it’s different. The programme consists that twenty dancers are in the competition and there are two groups, basic level and advanced level.

The first group: they have to work more because they have got the possibility of being nominated and leave the dance school on Fridays, but also they have the possibility to up the advanced level.

And the other group: they have rewards like go to different places for dance in front thousand people. They can’t be nominated. But also if they don’t work can down level.

My favourites dancers are Black (Christian) and Mari and, Ali and Aron.

There are five teachers: Sergio (street), Marbelys (liric), Benji (commercial dance), Paula (jazz-fusion) and Pepe (broadway).

And Rafa is a teacher but this year only makes choreographies. He chooses only seven concursants of twenty.

Lola González who is the director but she makes the group choreographies (with all the dancers).

And Paula who is the presenter all the years in this programme.

Barça

Today I want to tell you about the last Saturday.

The last weekend I went to Barcelona with my parents and my brother. We went to Barcelona because my father's family live there. My father and my uncle made me a surprise. Saturday's night we went to "Camp Nou" for saw play Barça. I've never been there. The "Camp Nou" it's impresive and very big.

I saw Bojan, Iniesta, Messi, Pujol, Piqué... who played very well, they are the best players of football.

Barça is my favourite soccer team.

This day thy played versus Villarreal. Barça won 3-1. Messi scored two goals and Villa the third.

I always have wanted go in "Camp Nou" and that day was impressive. I want to go more times. The match was very exciting and entertaining.

I brought a shirt with Barça's shield and my uncle too, and my father brought a Barça's scarf.

Holidays

Today I am going to explain my best holidays of my life.

The week before start school, my parents, my brother and I, we went cruising. On Monday we left from Barcelona to Monaco and return the next Monday in Barcelona.

It was my first time that I went a cruising but now after the experience I hope that it isn’t the last time. Always I want to went a cruising and I get it this summer.

We visited different cities. Every day the weather was very good. We had a good luck.

-The first stop was Monaco. I have never been there. Monaco is a wonderful city, but it’s not very big. We saw the prince’s palace which is very big and spectacular and we don’t forget the “curva de l’Alonso”.

-The second day we went to Florencia and Pisa. I went to there with the school the last year, but it doesn’t matter. We taked photos with the tower of Pisa.

-Next stop was on beach. We spent all the day sunbathing and swimming in the sea. It was a perfect day, a day to relax.

-On Friday we had to go Capri, but there was some problems and finally we went to Napols. This was the only place that I didn’t like. The town was old and not beautiful. And we visited “les ruines de Pompeia” and I was a little boring.

-The fifth day was Tunez. I have never been there. It’s a different place and the temperature is very high.

-And the last stop was Menorca. I wanted to go to Menorca since I was a little. But we went to there on Sunday and almost all the shops was closed. I was disappointed.

The boat was very big. My brother and I, we had one room for us. And my parents were in another room. The rooms were good, but the toilet was very small.

All the food was delicious and the waitress were friendly.

There were three “yaccuzis” and one swimmingpool, and all the days we went there.

The best thing of the travel was the people. We did many friends. They are friendly, laughing, nice, good people..

ANNA: Good morning.
DOUAA: How are you?
ANNA: I'm fine! Thank you.
ROCÍO: Ok. Well, we start the interview.
DOUAA: Tell me about your self.
ANNA: I think is important to say that I have two children, David and Jenny. My husband is an arquitect. I worked in a Irish Hospital for 8 years, but I had to leave it to look after my children.
ROCÍO: Why are you looking for a new job?
ANNA: Because my children are older now.
DOUAA: Why do you want to work with as?
ANNA: Because I heard that you need a nurse and I think it is a good oportunity.
ROCÍO: Is a good answer.
ANNA: I have a doubt. It is possible to do a half working day?
DOUAA: We don't have a fix time table for anyone.
ROCÍO: Is the time a problem for you?
ANNA. No, I just asking.
DOUAA: Why do you choose this work?
ANNA: Because I hope help people, and I fulfill my dream.
ROCÍO: Well, it's ok. We will phone you next weak to comunicate our desicion.
ANNA: Thank you very much. I hope your phoning.
DOUAA: Good bye!
ROCÍO: Bye!
ANNA: Bye!

A few minutes later...

DOUAA: Do you think she is a good candidate?
ROCÍO: I think she has a problem with timetable and that it can be a problem if we will take on her.
DOUAA: We will decide after.

Joke

My future.

Now I’m going to speak about my futurs future intentions.

First of all, now I’m doing second of bachillerat and the most important thing is to pass the spanish exam. The exam is on 13th October and I’m very nervous but I want to pass it and for this reason I will study very hard.

My goals of this year are to pass the spanish exam, to do very well the “treball de recerca”, pass all the exams of all the subjects, go to the “selectivitat” in June, and go to the college in September.

For fulfill my goals I’m going to study very hard for the exams, I’m going to review every day the things that we have done in class, and push and focus for all the subjects. And the most important thing is struggle until the end.

Also to (for) pass the exams I think that it’s very important to do the homework all the days.

I hope that the next year in this moment I will be at the college in Girona or Barcelona.

The sentence that I will never forget and I will do is: “Don’t ever give up on yourself”.
